| Scientology snuck into Clearwater, Florida in 1978 under the assumed name of United Churches. Since then they have come to dominate the small town. I lived in Clearwater for two years, working with a group which was helping people defrauded and abused by Scientology. During this time, police officers started to accept off duty jobs from Scientology. I documented the police officer's bias during that time. The police department accepted $176,000 a year from Scientology and was called by some "Scientology's police force." | |

New Music Video From David "The Hoff" Hasselhoff - "Jump In My Car"
| That's right, it's Hofficial... your favourite cult icon wants to take you home! The one and only David Hasselhoff of "Bay Watch" and "Knight Rider" fame returns with a cover of the 1975 classic 'Jump In My Car' and its a doozy. Recorded in Sydney last year with the legendary Harry Vanda (AC/DC, The Angels), the Ted Mulry Gang tune has been re-vamped with full Hoff gusto and this music video promises to rock the socks off all his Hofficial fans. Watch it, enjoy it, share it on Google Video, courtesy of Sony BMG Australia. | |

Ok, you heard this analogy here first. Here is something I came up with off the top of my head when talking to my friend about getting his car towed.
"Here's what you should have done: Tell the tow truck driver that he has no right to tow your car, even though it was parked illegally. First of all, you have put thousands of dollars worth of fines, tickets, taxes, charges and other fees that go with cars. This money has gone back to the local and federal government. In addition, you have had lots of work done on your car which supports local businesses. You were taxed for the charges that were incurred by having your car repaired or maintained, which again went to federal or local taxes.
That car of yours has driven you to work, church, and businesses. It has provided you with transportation that contributes in a great way to the national economy. Not only that, but you have put GAS into that car of yours! You were charged taxes for that gas as well! That car that is being towed has contributed GREATLY to the American economy! It has DEEP ROOTS in the American soil and deserves the right to stay where it is. Your car should be given amnesty because of it's contribution and sacrifice to this country. It shouldn't be towed, even though it was parked illegally."
Spread this around, be sure to link back here.

Could you ever forgive me?
Could you ever cast my past into
The sea of forgetfullness
Where riptides pull away my
sins of the flesh
Deep undercurrents destroy and
suffocate all the evil I have done
High waves crash my sins upon
the rock of God
where they are shattered into a million
little jagged pieces
This sea
Stretches forever into the distance
As far as East is from West
I feel my faults could fill this ocean
I see the beautiful, blue water
Tainted
As that which I cast off of me
Is cast into the ocean
At the bottom of the sea
Lies a graveyard of broken chains
Many of them the same
Many of them broken many times
Only to be picked up again
Then cast back into the sea
My soul stinks of salt water
My lips are parched and cracked
I know you are tired of the ocean
You are weary from the trip to the sea
How many times must I cast these things away
You ask
Must I beat a path to the ocean for as long as I live?
We met
And I brought the sea

By the way, I did an interview with KVEC the day we arrived. Much of what we went through on the way out was described on the interview. Click here: http://savefile.com/files/1224794

It's been too long since I've posted something. Danielle is still working with Jill. Things are going pretty well although she feels frustrating at times. I haven't gotten fired from my job either, so that's good. Actually, we recently purchased two new workstations and two new digital cameras. We also purchased a DVD duplicator/printer, camera bags, mics, and lots of other stuff. I'll be using this to train people and produce more videos. I am nervous about getting the process started, though. I need to get my volunteer resources more organized so I know who I have available and when. I also need to know what they know so I can train them appropriatley.
It looks like they will be moving our offices to the new building sometime in October. Either that or they'll find some office space close by the church. That will be exciting stuff. The next few weeks or so I need to focus on finishing a video for the men's ministry and focus on preparing for this new equipment and these new people. I know how to work with interns and train, but working with volunteers will be alot different.
Clay came to visit us Monday and Tuesday. He had a layover from his flight to Florida from California so he had his travel person extend the layover. We had a great time. We went to the gym, got some food and a bunch of fun stuff. It was great to see Clay and to hear that he's doing well.
Danielle and I are doing really really well. I feel like I'm doing a good job of not working late and she's doing a great job of supporting me. At Action House I would work really long days, but I can't afford to do that anymore now that I'm married. I'm totally ok with that because I'd rather be spending time with her, anyway. We have developed some good friendships with people in Houston, too. We're going to have dinner with Jennifer and her fiance Justin tonight. We've started hanging out with them in Friday nights now. We also see Jon alot. We hang out with him about every week or every other week. He's been kind of busy latley but I know we'll hang with him soon.
Work is going pretty well. I produced seven videos for the youth group during this month. Seven videos! It's been crazy. Things will slow down for me, though. I have to make them slow down. I have to focus on other aspects of the Media department besides producing videos for the youth group. It doesn't help that they are going to start a weekend service as well now. That means they will have services on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. When we have the new computers and stuff I totally plan on training people to produce videos for youth at least twice a month. We'll pump more out as more people and equipment become available.
Danielle and I have joined 24 hours fitness gyms. We started last week and we're doing really well. We work out Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. When we signed up I asked to work with a personal trainer since I don't know what I'm doing. After our first sessions my arms hurt for two days. It was nuts. I know that I have to start where I am and I'll get better as time goes on. I'm eating a 1,600 calorie diet and doing great at it. I really am glad that I'm able to adapt so easily to things without too much fuss.
That's about it for now.
